demolition of a 500m² single storey poorly constructed house allowed place for a new two storey home with connectivity to a future indoor pool. briefed to enjoy elevational style borrowed from the idiosyncratic arts and crafts movement as presented to the street, the rear south facing elevations  opposite extensive sub tropical gardens needed to respond to these using extensive areas of brise soleil shaded glass.

the indoor pool was added soon after completion and sits in the matured west facing garden. characterised by it’s armadillo roof and side glazing, brise soleil helps break up the elevational treatment to keep a domestic scale to this large building. the colours reflect the nature in which it is situated.

a garden room extension was later added and further improved the house/ garden relationship.

by opening up the kitchen into a new lightweight glazed extension that accommodates new dining and sitting areas.
