monkton boat club

The proposals were to seek planning permission for the new roof structure and refurbishment of the Monkton School boathouse, providing improved storage and sporting facilities. NSA approached the design in a way that enhances its environment and responds to its context.

The design upgrades the appearance of the ‘boat sheds’ into ‘boat houses’ and is sympathetic to the existing contextual scale and architectural vernacular within an agricultural setting. This appearance respects its grade 1 listed neighbour ‘Dundas Aqueduct’ which will be wholly untouched and unaffected by the works.
